Suggested Guidelines

Many Cummaquid Heights residents have suggested that we propose Association guidelines for matters formerly covered under deed restrictions. These are the advisory guidelines:

TRUCKS & TRAILERS

When possible, trucks and/or trailers should be garaged when parked overnight or not parked on a public street.

BOATS

Zoning states that boats stored on the premises must be behind the front line of the house.

POST LIGHTS

Each homeowner is encouraged to have a post lamp on his property at or near the street. It is recommended that these be operated by photocells or timers so that they may remain lighted during evening hours.

In addition, we call to your attention several restrictions already in place through local government agencies. These restrictions can be found on the Town’s website for Barnstable and Yarmouth.

 BUSINESS ACTIVITY AND SIGNS

Cummaquid Heights  is zoned for residential use only, and business activity is prohibited. Signs are strictly limited, but professional people may display a small nameplate.

ANIMALS

Barnstable and Yarmouth each have leash laws requiring that domestic animals and house pets be sufficiently restrained so as not to be offensive to neighbors. When walking your dog, please pick up after them.

FENCES AND STUCTURAL CHANGES

All exterior structural changes, including fences, must be approved by the Old King’s Highway Commission. The Commission also asks that satellite dishes not be placed on the front of homes.

EMERGENCIES

Be sure that your house numbers are visible from the street. Police and Fire Departments need this in case of an emergency.

We hope these will be helpful to you in your efforts to maintain and improve the value of all our properties, and we will be happy to have your comments or further suggestions. You may call or write any member of the Executive Committee or you may e-mail us at cummaquidheights@gmail.com

YARD SALES

Town of Barnstable requires a permit, the cost is $5.00 and you can have no more than 2 in any 3 month period. Yarmouth permits are free and you can have 1 per year unless permission is granted. Follow town regulations re. signs, however please do not put signs by the flag pole, use the outer wings.
